At some point or another, we’ve all gotten into discussions about the Apple vs PC debate, and here’s our discussion. We all own some Apple product, but this company seems to always bring up deep-rooted feelings about computers and technology that has existed since at least sayyy…1984.

I can’t front I’m with Raph. I have mad respect for their design and art direction but I like the freedom that comes with ugly PC’s.

I hate those sons of bitches so much, but I can’t stay away from their god damn phones. Apple does an amazing job for presentation, and ease of mobility, but the Mac-tax is not worth it. For the price that you get for a piece of machinery; talking labtop or desktop, you could’ve built a customized pc with double the power most of the time. And one of the things that I hate the most from Mac, even though it’s just not apple but the industry, is planned obsolescence. A mac will break in particular much faster because of cheaper material that they use to make them. PC’s can last like over 10 years, if you don’t overclock the shit out of them. I will say that I’m a sucker for their phones though. As a designer I feel nothing is more sexy in your hand then a naked Iphone, no case. And let’s be real pc vs mac, when you need some arbitrary program that your only going to use one time like a program that converts h264 to mp3 or whatever, most likely you’ll find it for free through 3rd party sources for pc. For Mac most likely your going to have to pay for a dumb product that you only had to use once -_-.
You can get a much more powerful PC for the same price, no doubt, but the resale value on a PC laptop is low, you can usually sell Macs that are a few years old for a decent price. I have not experienced the cheap material you are talking about, their laptop frames are made out of a single sheet of aluminum. If there is a free program for PC you want to use you can boot into Windows.

Just in!!! I was trying to use my gf’s ipad to play her some dope music via npr. I couldn’t play it because I needed to dl flash player. I click the dl link. Guess what, I can’t dl it because of apple’s restrictions on the device. FUCK APPLE…annnnnnd scene ; )
I hear you. On the other hand, flash is god awful and needs to die so I’m ambivalent.
I didn’t even listen to the Podcast. At this point I’m thoroughly convinced some people just immediately jump on counterculture criticism, because they believe it lends them some kind of immediate “Street Cred.” Regardless of what you might not like about Apple the reason you’re all bitching and moaning is because Apple is mad successful with the same fundamental strategy they had back when Bill Gates photocopied the Mac OS back in the eighties and copycatted his way into being a multi-billionaire off all of your backs with a half-ass thought out product. Don’t get upset now that the Real McCoy has kicked the copycat to the curb. When something from Microsoft finally does become the it thing again I fully expect most of you dumb asses to start ranting on conspiracy theories describe Microsoft as the dastardly financier of all hackers and hacking was conceptualized as a part a marketing tactic to force people into upgrading their computers.
