Mario Rendered Through Concrete and Sidewalk, Way Cheaper Than LCD.

I’m not sure how LCD and plasma took off, but concrete displays might have a place in the future. Andreas Heikaus put together his Bachelor’s thesis in applied science and art with a focus on matchmoving, the process of matching computer-generated elements into live-action elements. Sounds like he’s smart enough. And yeah, I think it qualifies as artsy.

Good job on this one by Andreas Heikaus. Below, I’ve included a bit of behind the scenes action that you might not find on other blogs. I guess they don’t care about the artists behind the work. Maybe other blogs think that behind-the-scenes footage isn’t important, but it is important. It’s like a DVD special feature. Imagine how you’d feel if you were missing special features because you’re using a bootleg DVD copied off Cousin Jeb’s computer. It’s not the same.

Hmmm…now I’m thinking about new applications for augmented reality.
